On July 6th, the LPGA Amateurs GTA held their annual Local Championship Qualifier. This year it was at the BraeBen Golf course in Mississauga. We had 29 participants, including 2 scramble teams, 18 individual stroke play competitors in four flights and 3 who played just for fun.
The weather turned out to be great, everyone seemed to be hydrated as it was a very hot day and judging by the chatter over dinner, it seemed everyone had a good time even though we probably left a few shots out there on the course.Congratulations to all for participating. All of our competitors took a risk to come out to play and should be commended for their efforts.
A special shout out to Maria S. who helped with many of the organizational duties, registration and getting the bars, fruit and water for our participants to enjoy on the course. Also thanks to her husband Steve who helped with the tee markers and putting them out on the course.
Thanks to York-Simcoe member, Megan B. who gave up her day to help monitor our pace of play and helped us with the various rule situations that were encountered on the course. It was great having a knowledgeable rules official.
Thanks to Linda L. and Wendy C. who helped with scoring. They were awesome and Maria S. who posted the scores on the big board. Also a special thanks to Susan W. who sold 50/50 tickets and helped at the registration table.
We had an exciting finish with two sudden death playoffs to determine the gross winners in the First and Second flights.
